Cabinetry Care And Maintenance
Nonn's Design Showplace--the place for cabinetry in Wisconsin--presents these quick tips for cleaning and caring for your cabinets:
Upon Installation: Wipe your cabinets clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry immediately with a clean, soft cloth. Apply a thin coat of high quality polish that does not contain silicon or wax. A high-quality polish will aid in protecting your cabinets from minor scratching.
Basic Cleaning: Using a damp cloth, wipe your cabinets with the grain of the wood, then dry immediately. Use a mixture of mild soap and water to remove oils, grease or daily spills. Do not use your dishcloth to clean your cabinets; it may contain remnants of detergents or grease. Avoid harsh detergents, abrasive cleaners or self-polishing waxes that may build up on the surface of your cabinets over time.
Avoid Excessive Moisture: Cabinets nearest the sink and dishwasher are the most susceptible. Immediately dry off spilled water, avoid draping wet dish towels over doors, and place coffee makers so that steam does not vent directly onto the surfaces of your cabinets.
