The holiday season is supposed to be a time when we nestle comfortably inside our warm, cozy homes and share time with our family and friends. At least that’s what I had in mind when I agreed to host this year’s holiday celebration. But there was a problem with that scenario—my home doesn’t even leave me feeling warm and cozy!
So I paced through my house, trying to discover what was different about the holiday scenes dancing in my head and the reality of what was around me. It was in the kitchen where I came face–to-face with my first clue: well-worn cabinets and fading countertops that belonged to another age.
